When you think of museums in New York City, You think of The Metropolitain Museum of Art (The Met), The Museum of Modern Art (The MoMa), The 9/11 museum, Ellis Island, but no one ever thinks about Brooklyn.
And Truth be told, I didn’t either until I kept seeing signs everywhere for a Killer High Heels exhibit. Now that, I knew I had to see.
So I trekked down to Brooklyn, and knew instantly I wouldn’t regret it!
Place: The Brooklyn Museum
Best Way to Get There: The Red line drops you off right in front
Cost: It’s a suggested donation, so whatever you can afford.
Amount of time to spend: This is of course person to person, but a brief view of everything will take you a few hours. There are lots of places to sketch, and an archive area that you could spend HOURS in.
What to expect: Amazing rotating exhibits (see killer heel picture above and think about 200 more examples!!),
Interior design houses throughout the decades in Brooklyn, Black Art, Local Art, Great collections from the french revolution and older,
A fantastic feminist dinner party representation,
porcelain and furniture collections, etc.
A Few other favorites:
It’s good, one of my favorites! Just Go! They also have a lot of night time events so if you need a little push, look one of them up.
